New Creative Commons Licensing Available

To help further spread the good word or rather accumulation of good words, SCP is excited to offer its published poets the ability to assign a Creative Commons license to their online content.

Creative Commons is a non-profit corporation devoted to establishing and maintaining a healthy balance between intellectual property rights and the public domain.

Here at SCP we believe that creators should have the ability to choose the degree with which their work is assimilated into the greater cultural scheme and should not be immediately shackled by complete proprietorship or complete orphan-hood.

So from here on out whenever we accept an artist's work for publication they will be given the option of either posting it with a standard “ all rights reserved” copyright or the more liberal creative commons attribution non-commercial license, essentially a “ some rights reserved” copyright. By having their work posted with this license, viewers are given the right to redistribute, recite, reuse and remix the ascribed work provided they follow the terms of agreement, which most importantly consist of accrediting the author. With this license an artist's creation becomes more accessible and can more easily enter the culture at large.

However do note that this license restricts people from harboring another's work for any form of commercial gain whatsoever.

Below you will find a link to the license agreement, to see how the license will look online please visit the works of editor-in-chief Seth Jani via the poets page.

As stated above, we will ask for the preferred copyright license at the time of acceptance. If your work is already online and you would like to change your license type please email a request to the editor-in-chief. You can switch between a standard copyright and a creative commons license, or vice versa, anytime just send an email to us with your request.

Please note SCP is not officially affiliated with Creative Commons, for more info about the license offered please click here.
