SCP is now accepting books/chapbooks for review. We are currently interested in Poetry Only, preferably by a single author though collaborative efforts and anthologies (but not lit journals) will be considered.
We are placing an emphasis on books that have been put out either by micro/small presses or that have been self-published by the author.
In most cases we will only consider books that are readily available (via a website, catalog, merchant etc.) although we may consider independently published out-of-print specialties if you can convince us of their importance.
Please note that there is no reading fee for having your book reviewed but that we will ask you to send us a copy of your book, one which we will than hold onto and love for life a.k.a we will not return books sent for review.
If you are a publisher, editor or author who would like to have a particular book considered for review please send the following items via email to
editor-in-chief@sevencirclepress.com.
Please include your name, your relation to the author (author, publisher etc), email address, publisher info (or write self-published), book info (page count, perfect-bound or chapbook) your personal website (if you have one relevant to the book), publisher website (if there is one) as well as a few sentences about why this book should be reviewed or, if you are the author, a short third-person bio.
Also include a couple sample poems and/or a link to a website where they can be read.
Please put all this info in the body of the email, no attachments.
We will do our best to respond to all queries within a month.
If your book is accepted for review we will supply you with a mailing address to which you may send your book.
Books will be read and reviews posted within two months (probably more like within one month) of our receipt of the work (we will send you a confirmation email when your book arrives).
All accepted books will be given a fair and honest assessment by editor-in-chief Seth Jani and/or one of SCP’s friends.
Reviews will be posted on SCP’s website and archived indefinitely unless the respective author and/or publisher has a reasonable motive for requesting its removal.
We look forward to reading your work and thank you for giving us the opportunity to do so.
