SCP: A 12 Month Forecast

As SCP moves onto its second year in existence a whole slew of changes and new projects await. And as the summer approaches with the new year on its heels, the staff is ready to unveil some of the many things to look forward to in the next 12 months.

For starters you can expect to see three new printed publications by early 2010. Desert Psalms, a brand new chapbook collection of editor-in-chief Seth Jani's poetry will be available in September followed soon after by the second issue of CircleShow. Both books will demonstrate the momentous editorial improvements that the Press has gained over the last year. Sleeker covers, improved layout, more comprehensive proofing and better overall design promise to reflect the Press's ever deepening devotion to presenting the art of poetry in innovative and breathtaking ways.

All of this will be followed by the publication of a full-length joint poetry collection by two of the most visionary poets of the rising generation. This book by Robert Snyderman and Christopher Sweeney of the Corresponding Society will be the first specially solicited full length manuscript published by the Press and will without a doubt be one of its most ambitious and rewarding projects.

Also starting with Vol. 4 of CircleShow, SCP's official journal will be switching from its current biannual publishing schedule to being published once yearly. This will happen for a variety of reasons. The first is simply enough, to be able to funnel more money into other exciting projects. But this will also allow us to create a more dynamic and diverse publication. Rather then CircleShow being merely a printed version of the press's online content it will now offer a variety of print only articles. Poets will still be able to submit poems throughout the year and we will continue to print them online on a regular basis. However only a handful will be selected to be printed at year's end in CircleShow. Instead the journal will be filled with special articles, reviews, stories and poems not available online as well as other exciting features. Interested writers will have opportunities throughout the year to submit their work for possible inclusion in one or more of these exciting new departments. We will update you more about this immense change as the new year approaches. Remember this development will not occur until Vol. 4, so both Vol. 2 and 3 of CircleShow will be open to submissions and printed according to the current schedule.

( Please note as a result of this change we will no longer be offering subscription services.. short lived, we know. However the journal will still be sold online, complimentary copies sent to contributors and distributed to select indie sellers. All current subscribers will still receive the journal until their respective services are fulfilled).

Besides that SCP will be open to chapbook submissions starting in September. That's right starting in September we will be hosting our first ever chapbook contest open to any poet with an unpublished poetry collection between 12 and 30 pages.

Also in September SCP will announce this year's Pushcart nominations hand selected by Seth Jani and friends.

And to top all of this off SCP founder and editor-in-chief Seth Jani will be launching another new completely independent side project, an online journal called EarthSpeak that will publish poems, essays and stories that concentrate on nature and man's relation to the world around him... details to surface in the coming months.

So as you can see the future of SCP is packed and promising and we would like to take a moment to thank all of the great writers who have submitted their works to us, the many readers and web surfers who have taken the time to scan, dive into and enjoy them and the many future artists and appreciators to come.

!!!Thank You!!!
